Global Educational Outreach for Science Engineering and Technology (GEOSET) is an educational video search engine, founded by Nobel Laureate, Sir Harry Kroto.

The website provides access to educational videos and presentations on STEM topics. Participating institutions include Florida State University, University of Sheffield, University of Sussex, Universitat Politècnica de València, University of Tokyo, the Vega website archive and the Royal Society.

The videos cover all age levels from Primary to Higher Education and lifelong learning and are created by a global community of teachers, researchers, undergraduates, post-graduates, high school students and K-12 / primary school children.

Doublesided collaborated with Sir Harry Kroto to create the website. It was designed with multiple ways to access website content include browsing by subject matter, age, type of presentation and presenter, or searching. Each video has an information page with an external link to view the institution’s video. The site is also translated into Spanish and Portuguese.

Student achievements

The GEOSET website has helped students receive offers and global scholarships, including:

  • Kerry Gilmore, awarded a Fullbright Scholarship to Italy.
  • Artrease Spann, awarded a Florida Gubernatorial Scholarship. At her interview the committee enjoyed her GEOSET presentation.
  • Praja Dhar, four tenure track offers, committee told her that her GEOSET presentation showed that she could teach.
  • Brittany Raffa, accepted by Dartmouth Medical School, the committee said ‘the presentation was a deciding factor’
  • Steve Acquah’s GEOSEY overview recording won the ‘Rich Media Educational Award 2009’
